Q. How many instruments can MudCats calibrate?

A. Calibrate up to 8 instruments at a time utilizing Mudcats’ exclusive multi-channel data collection technology. Individual channels can be edited, saved and printed independently or collectively.

Q. Does MudCats contain a library of Calibration standards?

A. Yes. SpecTrak is a MudCats module that contains a library of calibration standards accuracy specifications and uncertainties.

SpecTrack enables MudCats to assign calibration standards, and their related function, range and accuracy specifications to datasheets and applicable UUT calibration data. Standards specifications are divided by Function, Parameter, Range, Accuracy, Resolution and other metrological criteria to properly identify the specification.

Q. What is the specification format?

A. MudCats offers several different options for entering accuracy specifications. The basic accuracy specification consists of the Cal Interval, Unit of Measure, Full Scale Value, %IV,%FS and a Floor Error value. Asymmetric and dB type specifications are also supported.

Q. What is conformance testing?

A. Conformance testing is testing to determine conformance or nonconformance with a specification (i.e tolerance testing)

Q. What specifically can ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025 require?

A. Part 5.4.6.1 [ calibration laboratories shall ] “..have and shall apply a procedure to estimate the uncertainty of measurement for all calibrations and all types of calibrations.

Part 5.10.4.2 “When statements of compliance [ with a specification ] are made, the uncertainty of measurement shall be taken into account.”

Q. What procedures is used by MudCats to support ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025 calibrations?

A. Mudcats ensures support by applying uncertainty-based guard bands at Z% EMU, 100% of the time.

Q. Our laboratory must often comply with a variety of quality programs. Can I identify the requisite quality program in MudCats, or do I have to write all the requirements out as remarks?

A. MudCats has a drop-down list of all industry standard quality requirement programs. Simply choose the documented quality program, and those instructions will become part of this test number and it's history.

Q. Can MudCats be used the field?

A. MudCats can be used in the field on a notebook or laptop PC to collect calibration data and merge data into the mail system. Data sheets can be saved as files and used in the field to collect calibration data. Calibration data can then be saved as files and merged into the main database.

Q. Can MudCats share data with external applications?

A. Included in the scripting commands for MudCats are Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) Commands. These commands allow the scripting system to share data with external applications, i.e., MATHCAD, WORD, EXCEL, etc....

Q. What methods were used to verify and validate MudCats?

A. MudCats was verified and validated in accordance with CFR 21 Part 11, by a qualified third party software company specializing in software verification and validation.
